Folk Night. The Black Walnut.

This was my third try

At the Folk Night

Mill Street centre

Various musicians

Sign the list

Sit down and chat.

I had brought my harmonica.

Friend Ricky the same.

But let us not get

Into Doug’s puffings.

Rather a couple

Both sporting guitars

Presenting two songs

She had written.

One re-visited an

Apple orchard at

Outskirts of Kitchener.

Wonderful spot for hikes

With the kids and dog.

Until “developers” got to work

Ripping, digging, draining

Then dropping off ugly piles

Of steel and cable and tubing.

Components of progress, they say.

Memories and the sweet release

Evaporated.

Kids grown and gone.
